  • It’s a simple, practical way to work with whatever is present in everyday experience — like tension, curiosity, uncertainty, or excitement. It helps you move through four clear steps—Disturbance → Story → Pause → See—to create space for clarity and a different way of responding, instead of getting caught in automatic reactions.

  • The best way to get started is to join one of our free, fortnightly Open Practice Zoom sessions. During this 45-minute call, I will guide the group through a private, pen-and-paper practice so you can feel how it works. At the end, if you want to continue, I will pair you up with a practice partner.

  • While both involve awareness, this method is more structured and conversational. Mindfulness helps you notice what’s happening, while this method gives you a step-by-step process to actively explore the "story" and move through the experience, often through dialogue.

  • This method is peer-based, simple, and repeatable. It’s not about analysing the past or receiving advice. Instead, it helps you see your current experience clearly and find your own insight

  • There are similarities in noticing thoughts, but this method is less analytical. It’s less about "challenging" thoughts and more about seeing them clearly so their grip loosens naturally.

  • Yes, at this stage, everything is completely free. The focus is on learning, refining the method, and building a supportive community.

  • No. The method is designed to be simple and accessible. You can read the guide, watch the videos, join a "Getting Started" session, and begin right away.

  • A disturbance is anything that captures your attention or shifts how you feel — it could be comfortable, challenging, or energising. It could be a physical sensation (like tightness in your chest), an emotion (like frustration), or just a general sense that something isn’t right. It could also be excitement about something new. It might be curiosity about a change. It could be frustration or tension. It works best with small, everyday moments.

  • The story is the meaning your mind quickly creates about what’s happening. For example: “They don’t respect me” or “I’ve messed this up.” These stories often feel true, but they are interpretations, not facts.

  • The pause is where the shift begins. By stopping—even for a few seconds—you create space. This space allows something new to emerge instead of just repeating the same old reaction patterns.

  • “See” refers to what becomes visible after the pause. It might be a different perspective, a clearer understanding, or simply a sense of calm. You’re not forcing an answer, but allowing insight to appear.

  • No, you can absolutely use the method on your own. However, practising with another person often brings deeper insight. A listener can help you see your "story" more clearly when you get stuck in your own thinking.

  • You meet with your practice partner once a week for a 30-minute call. You each take a 12-minute turn to share a mild disturbance and walk through the four steps. The other person simply listens and holds the space quietly. There is no advice, no fixing, and no analysis.

  • We generally recommend practising with someone you don't know. Strangers have 'fresh eyes' and no shared history, which makes it much easier for them to just hold space without getting caught up in the story. However, if you are nervous about starting, you can practise with a friend for a 4-week onboarding period before graduating to a new pair.

  • That is exactly what the community is for! When you attend an Open Practice session, you can fill out a short form at the end, and I will personally match you with a practice partner based on your timezone and availability.

  • Once a week in pairs is a great starting point. People often find they naturally start using the method in everyday life as well.

  • People often report greater calm, more clarity, less reactivity, and better conversations. These shifts can happen quickly, even from the first few practices.

  • We are a growing group of people committed to finding clarity instead of reacting to the stories our minds create. The community grows organically through 'Plus-One' invitations — existing members inviting friends or colleagues to experience the method at our Open Practice sessions.
